Install and use the Chrome extension
The this+that Chrome extension brings your DoBox into Gmail. A sidebar appears alongside your inbox showing active tasks, suggestions, and completed items. Your DoBox is built from every channel you have connected, so the sidebar shows work that arrived anywhere, not only what came in by email. You can act on all of it without leaving Gmail.
- Install the extension: Get it from the Chrome Web Store. Click “Add to Chrome” and confirm the permissions.
- Sign in: After installing, click the this+that icon in your browser toolbar and sign in with your this+that account. If you don’t have one yet, you can create one at assistant.thisandthat.chat.
- Open Gmail: The DoBox sidebar appears on the right side of your Gmail inbox. If you don’t see it, refresh the page.
- Use the sidebar: Your active DoBox items appear in the sidebar. Click “Done” to resolve a task. Use the ”+” button to create new items manually.
- Spot linked emails: Emails with linked DoBox items show a small green this+that icon next to the sender name in your inbox list. Click the icon to jump to the linked item.
- Toggle completed items: Use the “Done” toggle in the sidebar header to show or hide done tasks.
Approving work without leaving Gmail
When a workflow reaches an approval gate, the item waiting on you shows Approve and Reject in the sidebar instead of a Done button. Answer it there and the flow carries on, so a workflow that pauses for a person doesn’t make you switch apps to unblock it.
The Chrome extension needs a this+that account with Gmail connected. If you haven’t connected Gmail yet, open Settings in the main app and add your Google account first.
